September 8th, 2008. The Westport Farmers Market and Craft Show has added beef vendor Golden Tassel Farm featuring USDA grass fed beef cuts. John Bettencourt notes that all his beef is raised and grazed on his farm. The herd is @ 100 but that number changes, especially since this past week has added 8 births. The herd is mostly Holsteins with fewer Brown Swiss and Jersey.
Beef cuts available at the Market are: hamburger; hamburg patties and steaks. They will do special orders including roasts and ribs. The market is at Westport Grange at 931 Main Road in central village, open from 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM on Saturdays through October 11.
A complete line up of fall produce is also available: corn, tomatoes, potatoes, kale, peaches, apples, leeks, beets, green beans, etc. The pumpkins and fall squash and gourds will debut around mid-September.
