Westport Residents to compete in Race Across America

In June, Jim LeBelle, owner of Village Bicycle and Tim Bryant of Westport, will embark on an extraordinary journey that will test the utmost limits of their physical endurance, mental resilience and commitment to a cause. As competitors in the 2009 Race Across America (RAAM), they will hop on a bicycle and pedal on their own power with a team of 8 crew members across the length of the American continent, 3,000 miles from Pacific to Atlantic, stopping to sleep only when necessary. Together they have set a goal to not only compete in, but win the 2-person category together!  They recently announced their charity title sponsor… The Coalition for Buzzards Bay and are now TeamSaveBuzzardsBay.

They will be racing with a goal to increase awareness for cycling in our community and to raise money for the Coalition for Buzzards Bay to help protect and preserve the watershed.

Jim wants “to prove that anything is possible when you set your mind to it and anyone can overcome struggles so that you can live your dream. This is one of my biggest dreams and now it is my chance to complete the Race Across America.”

With your support and donations Jim & Tim will have the necessary resources to accomplish their goal. A large portion of your donation and any money remaining after the race will be donated to The Coalition for Buzzards Bay to contribute towards protecting and preserving the Southeastern Massachusetts watershed we all enjoy so much.
