Bring some lawn chairs or a blanket and join us for the The 1st Annual Westport Alumni Homecoming being held Saturday, August 23rd from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. at the Holy Ghost Club on Sodom Road. The WHS Alumni Association in partnership with the WHS Athletic Boosters and Westport Happenings will be hosting the event which will include a 5K road race, Clamboil ($20) & BBQ chicken ($10) dinners, and Vendor Craft Fair.
Music will be provided by David Antunes. A Kids Craft & Entertainment Area sponsored by the Westport Business to Business will include a tattoo booth, face painting, arts and crafts, moonwalk and more.
Students from Westport dance studio En L'air, owned by Nicole Guinard, will be performing their Irish Step Dance at 2:30 and 3:00. An amazing performance you'll be sure to love performed by Emma Shea and her Irish students.
All are welcome to attend this family event which will benefit the WHS Alumni Association Scholarship Fund and WHS Athletic Boosters.
Vendor & Crafters still being accepted, additional tables have been added, get your applications in ASAP.

_______________ WRWA’s popular Summer Explorer Programs are now taking registrations. Visit the Westport River Watershed Alliance website for more information and to print a registration form. Watershed Explorers~ Ages 12-15, M-Th 9 am-2 pm, F 9 am-3 pm. Weeks of 7/14-7/18 and 8/11-8/15. Your child will explore the Westport River watershed and beyond in this program specially designed for young outdoor enthusiasts. Through hikes on land and kayaking on the water, we will see many sections of the Westport River from its headwaters to its mouth. We will spend 3 days kayaking with Osprey Sea Kayak Adventures. $360 members; $390 non-members (per week).

New for 2008: River Rats ~ Ages 3 – 6, Tu/Th, 7/1, 7/3, 7/29, 7/31. Parent and child program to explore the beach, the shore, & their critters. $8 members; $10 non-member (price per day, includes child & parent).
Coastal Explorers ~ Ages 7-11, M –F, 9 am – 1 pm. Weeks of 7/21-7/25 and 8/4-8/8. Discover the wildlife in our coastal waters in this hands-on science day-program. We’ll use a seine net to catch critters, complete scavenger hunts, hike through the dunes, play some fun games on the beach, and create crafts from natural objects. Each participant will receive a bag filled with supplies for exploration. $160 members; $190 non-members (per week).

Baseball Banquet
The 2008 WBRL Major and Minor Division Year End Banquet will be held on Tuesday, August 26th, @ 6:30 pm at White's of Westport. All Players are FREE! Player tickets will be distributed by team coaches. Accompanying adults $15, accompanying children $10.
Dinner will be served followed by trophies and awards. Tickets for parents and other family members will be available for purshase at the concession stand on 7/30 during Major play off game. You may also contact Dave McClure at (508) 642-5575. The WBRL Board of directors along with Team Managers and Coaches will be there to congratulate your players, recap the year and salute a very successful baseball season for everyone involved in Westport baseball.

70th Anniversary of the 1938 Hurricane Marked
Westport Historical Society marks the 70th Anniversary of the Hurricane of 1938 with the exhibition "Winds of Change: Westport's Hurricanes Revisited." This exhibition examines the impact of hurricanes on the
lives of Westport residents and the coastline through photographs, film
footage and firsthand accounts. Open July 12th - Aug. 31st, Mon. Wed., Sat. 10 am - 4 pm at the Bell School, 25 Drift Road,

Eco-tours of the
Learn about the history, ecology, and biology of the Westport River Watershed. Whether you are new to the area or want to learn a little more about the river, boat tours are the perfect way to get out and enjoy a day on the river!
Tours are done from 10 am to noon and 1 pm to 3 pm on Thursdays and Fridays, and one tour on Saturdays from 10 am to noon. There is a limit of four people per tour, and children under the age of 13 must wear a life preserver at all times. Openings are still available on certain Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays until Labor Day Weekend. Reservations must be made in advance by calling the WRWA at 508-636-3016. The cost is $25 per person for members and $35 for non-members.

Westport FREE Summer Baseball League
The Westport Babe Ruth League will be holding the Westport Summer Baseball program every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:45 to 7:30 pm. The season is scheduled to begin August 5th pending completion of regular season play offs. This is a more relaxed instructional league open to all 9-12 year olds except Major All-Stars. If your child wants to pitch, play shortstop, second base, or catch they will have an opportunity. If you want your child to have a look at the next level before they tryout this is the place. There will also be opportunities for parents to learn coaching techniques. The season will run until Labor Day Weekend. Sign your child up at Westport Summer Baseball.
